For the many generations of our lives, we were bounded in a history where violence, abuse, and tyranny has deprived our thoughts and feelings of freedom and patriotism. The many centuries that we are enchained to the eyes of our conquerors was just only the beginning of a greater problem; the problem that lies from within where we, ourselves, become the source of our own blames and conflicts.
The Marcos Regime, the assassination of Benigno Aquino, the fall of media, those were some of the things that happened in the past where our lives became a product of our own hesitations and shortcomings that have lead to these events.We were weak, defenseless, fragile beings only trying to escape the reality that we are suffering from so much blood and tears that these horrid times have given us... And now, dark days are about to spring forth once more as a new menace has been exposed, a new blunder has been revealed to the unconscious eyes of the people under the guise of the PDAF; the Priority Development Assistance Fund also known as the infamous "pork barrel scam".
So there is a two-sided perspective to tackle about the pork barrel; the first one is in the eyes of the optimists and the second the one is in the eyes of the pessimists. Optimists believed that the PDAF (previously known as the Countrywide Development Fund or CDF during the 1990's) will serve as a building block to the greater progress of our country; a supposedly advent towards a greater future, but in the pessimists' account, they believed that this pork barrel has a mysterious yet suspicious side to it; that there was a particular plan in motion; waiting for a particular time to reveal its true intentions... And so it did happened, the visions of the latter came true.
The Million People March is a form of rebellion; an act of disagreement to the so-called pork barrel scam. Many people from different walks of life have gathered together in the one place on where they can practice their demonstrations for the sake of the common good; Luneta. This place has made a long history of importance and value, as this is where, the great Jose Rizal, has been executed for the sake of his country, and his beliefs for our brighter future. They are hoping for future where the people will be transparent to the payments, bills, and allowances that the government officials received; ready to be revealed to the public.
The situation, however, despite that it really is a matter of national concern, there is still a place in our hearts that the only way to solve the problem is to be a part of solution, and that means is that in order to remove the heavy feeling of the predicament that the people are in is to make the situation lighter as it is. Laughter, music, presentations of dazzling colors are just the only few things that the people saw within the Million People March; meaning to say that not all things are meant to be taken seriously, but rather to joke around and feel that it will pass, for as long as we keep on thinking the darker side of things, then we won't be able to get anywhere.
However, no matter what the situation we are in, there is only truth regarding to all of this... IT WILL PASS AWAY AND ALL WILL BE BACK TO NORMAL. The trick question here now is that; when. When will all of these will come to an end? When will Janet Lim Napoles and the people responsible for such a despicable act be put to justice? When will the people have the right time and judgement to think of who are the people really deserving to be put into office? We live in a democratic country full of hopes and dreams, but what if these same things have become the hindrance to our progress? Then there is no other choice but to free ourselves from these mentalities; we are not truly a democratic country without the proper leaders to lead us... the people.
It is like what Rizal asks to all of us here "What will happen to the heroes of today if they will become the tyrants of tomorrow?"
